Healthy Families - Case Management
The Parenting Center recognized a growing need to provide education and other services to first time teen mothers and began a case management program called Healthy Families. This free and voluntary program is designed to support and embolden young parents who are 13 to 20 years old to become the best possible parents for their child.
Each mother who enters the program is assigned a family support worker who goes to the home and teaches them what to expect as their baby grows, how to properly nurture and care for their child, ways to encourage positive learning, how to connect with quality community resources, and more. Our family support workers receive national accreditation every four years through Healthy Families America.
We provide transportation for moms, as well as opportunities to meet other teen families and learn new skills; and allow for families to stay in the program for three to five years.
Our purpose is to assure that the children of these young families are properly cared for, reared in a healthy environment, and are prepared to enter school.
