Family Life Educator


Job Summary:

To encourage, motivate, and provide information to parents and caregivers in order to enhance positive parenting skills. To help parents identify and reduce behavior which might lead to child abuse.  Position presents classes, workshops or seminars to adult groups at The Parenting Center and other community locations. Teach up to seven workshops per week. Educator must be available to teach workshops two evenings per week and occasional Saturdays.

 

Employment Standards:

Educational Requirement: Bachelors degree in education or human service field.

Experience: Must have 1 -3 years of related experience and a good understanding of child development.

 

Job Skills/Qualifications:

·        Knowledge or experience in teaching and class facilitation skills.

·        Knowledge of child development and child abuse.

·        Good interpersonal skills.

·        Computer skills in Windows, Microsoft Word Power Point and Excel.

·        Must have own transportation, valid Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

·        Must have public speaking abilities.

·        Must be able to maintain confidentiality regarding clients and agency business.

·        Prefer bilingual in English and Spanish.

Healthy Families Support Worker

 

Job Summary:

Duties include client relations/parent education, case management, and record-keeping for our Healthy Families program.

 

Employment Standards:

Professional with Bachelor’s Degree in human services field (preferred) and experience with children in culturally diverse families needed for established case management program.  Equivalent years experience in a home visitation program may be substituted for the educational requirement. 

 

Job Skills/Qualifications:

  • Ability/experience in conducting home visits.
  • Ability/experience in relating to young parents/babies
  • Available to families after regular business hours.
  • Able to enjoy long-term projects without the need for immediate results or feedback.

Subcontractors for Region 3W Healthy Marriage Program


The
Parenting Center is seeking six subcontractors for the “Twogether in Texas” Region 3W Healthy Marriage program. The subcontractors will provide capacity-building and service delivery of premarital and healthy marriage education services. They will be working with community and/or faith-based organizations in the area of healthy marriage development. Region 3W includes the following counties: Cooke, Denton, Erath, Grayson, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise.

Each subcontractor will provide the following in relation to marriage education services:

v     Present at least one secular premarital education class per month in the assigned counties and agree to facilitate classes during evening and/or weekend hours as needed, as requested by the Healthy Marriage Regional Intermediary (HMRI) Project Manager.

v     Recruit participants to the premarital education classes.

v     Secure classroom location, set up classroom, and have materials ready prior to the start of class.

v     Collect evaluation data and submit to the agency or other assigned evaluator.

v     Update the HMRI Region 3W Web Portal weekly regarding upcoming class information.

v     Provide HMRI program information to potential volunteer organizations.

v     Travel in the assigned area in an effort to promote the healthy marriage initiative through public relations events and marketing, in coordination with the HMRI Project Manager and Marketer/Recruiter.

v     Attend two separate curriculum training events hosted by the Texas Academy for Healthy Marriage in Austin, Texas during August, 2008. Travel stipends will be provided for each of these training events.

v     Participate in HMRI conference calls, meetings, and regional events as needed.

v     Participate in the facilitation of capacity-building events through community meetings.

v     Maintain reliable transportation, a valid Texas driver’s license and auto liability insurance.

v     Provide own office with computer, printer, cell phone and storage for classroom materials.

 

Subcontractors must be individuals or organizations that are either marriage educators, clergy, licensed mental health professionals, faith-based organizations or community-based organizations and have a Bachelor’s degree. Contract Bilingual Family Life Educator

Job Summary:
This position is contract work per class, as needed with no guarantee of hours. Teaching opportunities are flexible and are available mornings and early afternoons or evenings at schools, libraries and other locations throughout Tarrant County. Contractor should be available to teach a minimum of two to four hours per week.
Contract Bilingual Family Life Educators deliver workshops that encourage, motivate, and provide information to parents and caregivers in order to enhance positive parenting skills, and provide professional development workshops. Educators assist parents with identifying and reducing behaviors that may lead to child abuse. 

 

Employment Standards:

Therapist – Bilingual, Part-Time

 

Job Summary:

Provide therapy in Spanish and English to agency clients, other agencies’ clients per agreement, and provide consultation to other agencies. Work schedule is primarily evenings and Saturdays (20 hours per week).

 

Employment Standards:

Educational Requirement: Masters Degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.

Certification and /or licensure: Must have LCSW, LMFT or LPC license and be approved by the state to provide therapy.

Experience: Must have 3-5 years post graduate degree experience providing therapy to individuals, families and children.

Language proficiency: Prefer fluent in Spanish; able to write in Spanish.

 

Job Skills/Qualifications:

·        Experience in providing therapy to families and children.

·        Must have knowledge of a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive, behavioral, family systems, psychodynamic and play therapy.

·        Knowledge of child development and child abuse.

·        Ability to relate to people with respect for their culture and individuality.

·        Able to relate to individuals with diverse value systems and behavioral norms.

·        Good interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport with all age clients.

·        Experience working with Child Protective Service clients or experience working with abused children
